January NOVASWUG Recap

On January 16th, K-Form hosted the second Northern Virginia SolidWorks User Group (NOVASWUG) meeting. K-Form would like to thank everyone for attending. Building a community group is not an easy task. Prism Engineering gave us a demo of SolidWorks 3DVIA Composer.

I make technical documentation (maintenance manuals and assembly documentation mostly) for some product development projects. I really appreciate the ease Composer brings to the process especially with updating content. Composer also allows non-technical people to generate views and schematics separate from the SolidWorks assembly. This translates to more time wearing the engineer or designer hat. The ability to view and interact with content inside of a web browser presents interesting opportunities.

The next NOVASWUG meeting will be March 13th @ 5:30PM to 7:00PM at the K-Form facility. I will post a reminder and agenda in the LinkedIn group. The tentative presentation topic is Simulation. SolidWorks Simulation is a powerful analysis tool. The discussion may warrant additional presentations on specific elements (thermal maybe?).
